Scott Shay, MA (Berkeley), MBA (Penn State) (born February 11, 1967 in Lebanon, Pennsylvania), is an American historical linguist and author.
He is best known for his book Middle High German Verbs, an authoritative book on the subject. A more recent work is The History of English: A Linguistic Introduction.
Shay is a member of the Modern Language Association and continues to write books on topics in Germanic historical linguistics geared towards non-linguists.
