Rudolph Isley


Rudolph Isley (born Rudolph Bernard Isley, April 1, 1939, Cincinnati, Ohio) is one of the founding members of the legendary family group, The Isley Brothers. Rudolph, known as Rudy, to family members, heavily contributed to the Isleys' sound co-writing the self-penned anthems, "Shout", It's Your Thing and also wrote a rough draft of the brothers' 1975 classic ballad, "For the Love of You Pts. 1 & 2".

Rudolph demonstrated a unique sound similar to brother Ronald and played a second lead with him in the brothers' 1975 funk classic, "Fight the Power Pts. 1 & 2". Rudolph remained a dedicated member to the group from its 1954 inception into the late-1980s and left the group officially in 1989 before the release of the Spend the Night album to follow a lifelong dream of ministry.

Rudolph lives quietly at home in California with his longtime wife, Elaine. Rudolph showed up to accept a BET Award for Lifetime Achievement Award with his brothers Ronald and Ernie.
