- 13 June: World-renowned for its juicy steaks, Argentina is expected to fall short on its high-quality beef exports to Europe due to government trade barriers and a prolonged farm strike. Government and industry sources said Argentina was unlikely to fulfill its contract to supply the European Union with 28,000 tonnes of boneless, chilled cuts of beef, served in some of the continent's swankier restaurants. The current contract is up at month's end, and Argentine meatpackers still owe Europe about 3,500 tonnes of the meat under the so-called Hilton quota, a government official said on condition of anonymity. The source said exports were expected to reach about 25,500 tonnes by June 30 -- 2,500 tonnes shy of the agreed amount. The Guardian
- 12 June: The forearm of a two-footed, meat-eating dinosaur unearthed in southeastern Victoria is the first evidence that the big beasts roamed all across the ancient supercontinent Gondwana. Until now, experts believed the dinosaurs of what is now Australia remained isolated from those in other parts of Gondwana, including South America and Antarctica. But the 105 million-year-old bone, an ulna, has the same distinctive features as those from a giant big-clawed carnivore from Argentina called Megaraptor mamunhuaiquii. The South American megaraptor was half to two-thirds the length of the king of the meat-eaters, Tyrannosaurus Rex, and lived about 20 million years after its smaller, emu-sized Australian relative. - 9 June: In front of a sell-out crowd at Giants Stadium, the United States and Argentina played one of the most thrilling 0-0 draws one could ever witness. And only the heroics of goalkeeper Tim Howard kept the U.S. in the game, while the crossbar saved the Argentines. Goal.com
- 9 June: Argentina's president unveiled a public works plan on Monday that will be funded by a controversial soy export tax, as she moved to take the upper hand in a three-month-long standoff with farmers.
